this thesis looks at mainstream trends that have been watered down by white mainstream pop culture. these trends often find their roots in bipoc communities who are erased at the expense of commodification. this body of work celebrates the origins of popular health, wellness, beauty and party trends that have become the-next-hot-thing over the last decade and pays homage to the roots.
